Braidwood community celebrates opening of new classroom facilities and upgraded multipurpose hall at Braidwood Central School
Date: 15 December 2011
New facilities at Braidwood Central School in Braidwood will bring benefits to students for years to come, the Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Mike Kelly, said today.
Speaking at the school’s ceremony for the opening of $2,257,000 new classroom facilities and upgraded multipurpose hall, Dr Kelly said the Australian Government’s historic Building the Education Revolution (BER) investment was delivering modern facilities to school students around Australia.
“The BER is a $16.2 billion investment in the nation’s future and is delivering modern facilities to more than 9500 schools in metro and regional communities across the country,” Dr Kelly said.
“It is the single biggest investment in Australian schools in our history.
“Projects like the new classroom facilities and upgraded multipurpose hall at Braidwood Central School are making a real difference by improving the learning environment for our children.
“This is an historic investment in the modernisation of our schools and we will continue to see the benefits of this program for many years to come.”
Dr Kelly said the Government’s investment had resulted in libraries, science labs, classrooms and multipurpose halls being built across the country.
“These facilities are an investment in our future and will deliver better education outcomes for students in your community and throughout Australia,” he said.
“They are changing the way our students learn and giving teachers and staff a more enjoyable place to work.
“The bricks and mortar of these buildings are merely the foundations on which long term educational benefits will be built and continue to flow to Australian students for years to come.”
Dr Kelly congratulated Braidwood Central School and the local Braidwood community for their efforts in delivering this historic investment to their school.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the whole Braidwood community to come together and celebrate the new facilities.
