Mike Kelly congratulates Heywire winner from Merimbula

Date:  13 February 2012

Member for Eden-Monaro, Mike Kelly, congratulated Courtney Muller from Merimbula for her winning entry to the ABC’s ‘Heywire’ competition.

The competition, run by the ABC, asked young people aged 16-22 years, to “tell it like it is” through short stories, sharing the stories of their lives in rural and regional Australia.

Courtney’s winning entry “What’s Left?”, explores the impact alcohol can have on young people living in rural and regional areas.

Mike Kelly met Courtney when she was in Canberra
last week to be presented with her award for being named one of the 35 winners in the annual competition.

I’d like to congratulate Courtney on being chosen on one of the 35 winners.  It’s great to see someone from our region being recognised for their work.”
